Frequently asked questions
What comes with a NetGain complete system?
Each complete system includes the motor, a HyPer-Drive controller/inverter, the correct main contactor, and the HyPer-Drive wire harness kit. Ordering the system means you get a matched set of parts that NetGain recommends together.
Can I buy a HyPer motor without a HyPer-Drive controller?
No. NetGain requires HyPer motors (HyPer 9, 9HV, 9R, 12 and 13) to be purchased together with a HyPer-Drive controller/inverter.
Which controller should I use with a HyPer 9?
NetGain recommends the HyPer-Drive X1, X1 ISO or X144 for the HyPer 9 and 9R. The HyPer 9HV is wound for 144 V input, which matches the X144. The HyPer 12 and 13 pair with the X1, X1 ISO and X144.
What is the difference between the Micro 880 and the Micro 880MV?
Both are 10 kW continuous IPM motors with the same shaft options. The Micro 880 is wound for 48 to 96 V systems; the 880MV has a higher-torque winding for 80 to 144 V and pairs with the HyPer-Drive X1 and X144.
Which NetGain motor fits an E-Z-GO golf cart or 48 V utility vehicle?
The Micro 846 and Micro 886 have a 19T spline shaft and an adapter plate for the E-Z-GO E-Axle (H12/24E/30E). NetGain's recommended controllers for them are the HyPer-Drive X48 (600 A) and X125; the Micro 886 also pairs with the 1,000 A HyPer-Drive X48.
What does isolated logic mean on a HyPer-Drive?
ISO models have isolated logic and use a 12 V-coil main contactor (Gigavac GV200PA-1). Non-isolated models use a 36 to 48 V-coil contactor (GV200QA-1). The right choice depends on how your vehicle's low-voltage system is set up, so call us and we will help you pick.
